About Puddle Jumpers Speech Pathology
Literacy, Language and Speech
I am a speech pathologist located in Australia. I specialize in literacy and all things phonics, but I also have a background in technology. That makes a perfect match for creating materials on Teachers Pay Teachers and Boom Learning!
As a parent of two boys I found it difficult trying to get access to speech pathology and literacy services for my children. One of my children struggled with reading as he was not taught the code. I knew that I had to be part of the solution and decided to return to University to become a Speech Pathologist. I have found my passion in literacy and now have a Masters degree in Speech Pathology as well as further specialised training in UFLI Foundations and Sounds-Write - both of which are evidence based synthetic systematic phonics program. I am passionate about making literacy fun and offering quality resources at low cost through my teachers pay teachers store and boom learning.
I love being able to use a multi sensory approach to teaching literacy. My students love playing games, so I got creative and started making phonics games that follow a systematic synthetic phonics approach. I love this approach as it really beds down a child's knowledge of CVC words and short vowels before moving on to more complex vowel digraphs. I also bring in my knowledge of speech and language and other systematic phonics programs to make it successful for each individual student.
Note that any materials created by me are entirely original content and were not created by nor endorsed by UFLI.
"My students really enjoyed these activities, as a different way to practice their phonics skills, rather than the usual "Roll and Read." Thank you!"
"Wonderful resource for differentiating homework. A variety of activities to choose from helpfully broken down into sets of worksheets dedicated to a particular phonics focus."
"My students love the games we play to review our UFLI lessons. I love that they get extra practice. They love playing with their friends. It's a win win situation."
