Seasonal Games - Sneak Peak

We don't want to waste our precious teaching and learning time with centers and independent work that are not meaningful, but sometimes we need to have a little fun around those special holidays.  Each of these themed seasonal games brings a little extra fun to the student's phonics word work, but still keeps the teaching explicitly to core phonics.  No wasted time with activities that required cutting and pasting or additional set up. These are all provided in black and white as an option to save on printing costs.

Halloween Themed Phonics Games

Do you need a Halloween themed game for your phonics lesson? I have you covered!  Whether you need a game for two students, solo or whole class I have something that will work for you.  Choose Frankenstein, Ghosts, or Monsters!

Frankenstein Phonics is a new solo game that has become one of my best sellers.  It is perfect for those students that don't like to compete against another classmate. Instead they are completing against Dr Frankenstein!  You can also easily pair up students to work cooperatively to defeat Dr Frankenstein - or even use it as a whole class game.  You can change the rules to fit your time schedule - make one, two or more pathways!  There are so many variations with this game - I just love it!

Haunted House and Monster School work best in pairs.  Students take turns to move their way around the game board reading words as they go. All you need is a dice and two counters. It's a traditional style board game so the students will easily get the hang of this one.

Capture the Ghosts and Monster Match do not require a dice - less distractions if you wanted something quiet for fast finishers.  In Capture the Ghosts you can use markers or bingo dabbers - be the last person to complete the circle around the scary creature and capture more than your opponent.  In Monster Match - race each other to your matching monster reading words as you go.  How many pathways can you make? Can you block your opponent?  Strategic thinking is required for both of these!
